$7M Moved from Addresses Connected to Axie Infinity’s Recent Hack

The attackers behind the crypto industry’s largest exploit have started moving some of the stolen funds through Tornado Cash Ethereum mixing service. According to on-chain data, about 2,001 Ether was just moved from the addresses connected to the $625 million exploits of Axie Infinity’s sidechain, the Ronin network.

According to Chinese crypto analyst Colin Wu, over the past hours, there have been several transactions connected to the suspects of Ethereum addresses.

According to data from Ethereum blockchain explorer, Ether Scan exactly 2,001 Ether worth approximately $7 million, was just moved. While about 70% or 1,400 Ether worth $4.9 million of the moved Ether passed through the privacy tool, Tornado Cash.

Biggest Hack in Crypto's 13 Year History

Earlier last week, Axie Infinity’s sidechain Ronin network was hit by a $625 million exploit, the biggest yet in DeFi's history. Overall, the attacker took 173,600 WETH worth nearly $597 million and 25.5 million USDC stablecoin worth $25.5 million, adding up to about $622 million worth of stolen crypto at the time.

In a substack blog post, the company later revealed that the attacker “used hacked private keys in order to forge fake withdrawals” from the Ronin bridge across two transactions, as seen on Etherscan.
