ChatGPT 'available in Italy' after being banned under GDPR
After a watchdog suspected that OpenAI's ChatGPT had broken the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirement, the AI chatbot was temporarily banned in Italy. Exactly 29 days after the ban, on April 29, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that ChatGPT was “available in Italy again” without revealing the steps taken by the company to comply with the Italian regulator’s transparency demands.

EU bill to regulate artificial intelligence seeks to control risk of high-risk tools
Legislators in the European Union are working on a new bill to control the rapid growth of artificial intelligence.
The goal of the bill is to categorise AI tools based on the perceived risk levels and their capabilities. The levels of risk range from negligible to unacceptable. The bill says that high-risk tools won't be completely banned, but they will have to be more transparent.
The use of copyrighted materials in AI training will have to be disclosed by generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney if it is enacted into law.
