Algorand CEO Steps Down, Interim Replacement Revealed

Algorand CEO
Algorand CEO Steven Kokinos has resigned to "pursue other interests" but will remain a senior advisor until May 2021. Long-time employee W. Sean Ford, previously chief operating officer at Algorand, will serve as the interim CEO.

Sean Ford to Replace Kokinos

Steven Kokinos joined Algorand in 2018 after founding the software development firm Fuze. At Algorand, he was responsible for overseeing go-to-market execution and operations.

"It has been a pleasure serving as CEO of Algorand. As we move into this next phase, I am excited about the company's future and am confident that the team will keep things running smoothly," he said.

He will now be succeeded by long-time employee W. Sean Ford, previously the chief operating officer. Ford was formerly in charge of product management, engineering, marketing, and community engagement.

Commenting on the development, Kokinos stated:

"I am honored to step in and partner with Silvio during this transition. Algorand has experienced monumental growth since its inception, and we look forward to our continued expansion as we take Algorand to the next level."

Algorand's Layer-1 blockchain is based on the work of Turing Award-winning cryptographer Silvio Micali and is unrivaled in its ability to bring fast, frictionless, and inclusive technology to all.
