Animoca Brands Announces Acquisition of Eden Games

On April 11, Hong Kong-based blockchain-focused gaming company Animoca Brands announced its new acquisition with a French racing game studio, Eden Games.

History of Eden Games

The widely-renowned console and PC racing gaming application Eden Games was founded in 2018 and are best known for Test Drive Unlimited Series and Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed.

The gaming studio has also shifted towards mobile gaming with Gear.Club and F1 Mobile Racing. Previously owned by Atari, the gaming studio was temporarily closed in 2013, however, Animoca acquired the studio for $16 million.

Animoca Brand's Strategy

After the acquisition of game developer Grease Monkey in February, this will be Animoca Brands' second acquisition since the beginning of the year.

The objective behind the acquisition of the French studio is its experience to construct a play-to-earn REVV Motorsport game. Additionally, it also wishes to achieve building other such blockchain-based racing series.

Yat Siu, the co-founder of Animoca Brands commented,

"With its quarter of a century of expertise in building high-quality motorsport video games, Eden Games will enhance and accelerate the development of the REVV Motorsport ecosystem and add powerful value to the REVV community and the racing metaverse."
