This news was revealed officially by Manchester City F.C. on December 21, 2020. The games Animoca Brands will be developing to feature both men's and women's teams of the club. This will also include the team of Melbourne City club as it is also part of the partnership.
Animoca Brands has revealed that it will be developing mini-games for GAMEE, which is its hyper-casual gaming site. Along with developing the games, a set of collectibles trading cards will also be created. All these cards will be distributed on Quidd, its NFT digital collectibles subsidiary.
Animoca Brands will also provide the gaming experiences to the players with a theme of Manchester City and Melbourne City. Both these themed gaming experiences will be created through Sandbox.
This has to be kept in mind that this is not the first time that any Premier League Club is getting associated with blockchain. Back in August 2019, which is more than a year ago, it teamed up with Superbloke, which is a blockchain-based football gaming startup based in South Korea. The partnership was formed to incorporate the players of Manchester City into the FC Superstars game by Superbloke.
Animoca Brands is also gaining huge fame in the industry over the past several months. It has also signed a lot of big licenses, outside the crypto space so that it can target an audience on a large scale. The firm has managed to gain the license from Formula One game, F1 Delta Time, and several other prominent ones.
