Axie Infinity Announces Launch of New Sidechain With Ubisoft

Axie Infinity, a digital pet universe powered by Ethereum, has recently announced the launch of a public testnet of a new sidechain. It is revealed that this public testnet will be launched with the gaming giant Ubisoft. Ubisoft will be playing the role of launch validator for this new sidechain named Ronin. 

Ronin has been designed in such a way that helps the game to offload action directly to the connected blockchain. It is believed that this sidechain will help Axie Infinity to reduce the impact of congestion on the Ethereum network. This will ultimately improve the gaming experience of players to a very great extent. As per the official blog post, the public testnet period will last for several months from now.

Axie Infinity Listed as Most Popular Blockchain-Driven Game

It is not only Ubisoft, that is associated with the launch of this sidechain as prominent crypto players like Binance, NonFungible.com, Animoca Brands, and SPARQ are also part of this launch. DappRadar, a firm that provides insights about Dapps, has stated that Axie Infinity is the most popular blockchain-driven game as it is having a huge user base. In the last one month, it has recorded 18,590 users, which is approximately ten times more than the other game that is listed in the second place. 

Ubisoft Is Highly Active in Blockchain Space

Among all the traditional game publishers, Ubisoft is the most active one in the blockchain space. Recently, it has been seen that this gaming giant has worked with a lot of blockchain developers for its Entrepreneur Lab program. Sky Mavis, the developer of Axie Infinity, has also become a part of this program run by Ubisoft, earlier in 2020. Now Ubisoft's association with the launch of this sidechain’s public testnet is indicating the growing interest of the publisher in the blockchain industry.
