The Voices of Classic Rock (VOCR) archive is auctioning a total of the four Beatles as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Each of the NFTs will include unique artwork and a WAV file of the interview covering a variety of topics in their respective interviews.
John Lennon’s interview consists of his discussion on his songwriting and the Sgt Pepper track A Day In The Life, while McCartney talks about his creative drive and how it relates to the music industry. Meanwhile, Ringo Starr shares an incident when a fan stole and eventually returned a medallion and George Harrison offers his views on Abbey Road studios.
The NFTs will be minted on the Ethereum blockchain with bids starting from 1.25 ETH worth $4,000 at the time of writing. Bidding started Monday, Dec 6, and is currently being auctioned on VOCR’s official website and ends on Friday, Dec. 10.
The Voices of Classic Rock Archive boasts over 650 historic interviews and radio shows featuring major rock acts recorded between 1964 and 2008 including The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and more.
VOCR acquired the Beatles interviews from the late Kathleen Wittbold, an MTV interviewer who also created the radio programs. VOCR's Managing director Jonathan Firstenberg said that the Beatles interviews are some of the most valuable items within the company's archive:
“The extensive variety of Beatles interviews that we have in our collection are, perhaps, our most comprehensive and valuable assets..that is why we wanted to launch with John, Paul, George and Ringo the ultimate Classic Rock Stars!”
Meanwhile, the portraits included in the NFTs are illustrations by Chloe Zola.
