Bitcoin Core Website Moving to Dark Web to Avoid Censorship

Bitcoin core
The bitcoin core website is now migrating to the dark web and would be accessible there, according to a statement on March 27th. This is done in order to avoid censorship and be more resilient towards it.

The latest updates by bitcoin core website get posted on the open-source bitcoin software. A large group of developers maintain it. There were multiple requests and finally the site is now reachable as a Tor hidden service via an onion address. The post mentioned :

As well as adding another means of censorship resistance, a secret service gives an alternative trust path that doesn't rely on certificate authorities nor DNS infrastructure."

Certified authorities keep an eye on how genuine the website is and the DNS infrastructure attaches the IP address to domain Nescafe such as "www.bitcoincore.org". By making it available via the dark web, such checks or reliance on these technologies evaporate.

The dark web is the part of the internet which eludes itself from traditional Web search engines. To put it simply, when you search for a website which is available on the dark web, the search engine would fail to show it unless you put in the exact URL address. Tor browser is used to access the dark web.

Bitcoin Core Joining Dark Web Not so Dark

As bitcoin core website joins dark web, it might be getting assumed by people that there's something diabolical about it. The dark web is generally associated with illegal activities such as drug selling etc. However, it can be used to serve a good purpose too.

In October 2019, the British broadcasting company (BBC) provided a dark web copy for it's users and it was available on the Tor browser. This was done to provide content in countries like Vietnam, Iran, China, where the website was getting censored.

Dark web critics, however, find no good in them and believe they are responsible for multiple bitcoin scams.
