Ghost, while confirming the attack, stated that on May 03, 2020, the hackers have harmed the vulnerabilities in the infrastructural tool of the platform, Salt, and then obtained control over the master server.
But soon the problem was identified by the developers of the open-source platform and they assured the users of the platform that neither of their credit card information has been revealed to the hackers.
The developers also convinced the users that neither of their credentials is secured in plaintext.
Some big outlets who are the customer of Ghost include Mozilla, NASA and DuckDuckGo.
The platform designers explained, “The mining attempt spiked CPUs and quickly overloaded most of our systems, which alerted us to the issue immediately”.
The company notified the users about hackers attack and stated that within four hours of hacking, the company got rid of crypto-mining viruses. It further mentioned that the company did not notice any further issue on the network.
After the Ghost developers noticed some illicit activity on the network they have started working on remediation clear the entire platform’s network and to rebuilt it.
Salt’s creator has recently, launched two new updates that would focus on the vulnerabilities in Ghost’s tool.
The data centres and the cloud-based environments for server configuration and monitoring are the users of this tool.
