BAYC highlighted the flaw on Twitter, saying, "The team caught and addressed it promptly."
The team behind the NFT collection, Yuga Labs, said it was looking into the matter. Others in the crypto community, on the other hand, blamed BAYC Discord users for the attack. Cory.eth, founder of NFT collection OpenAvatar said, users "just need to use the technology better."
BAYC is a highly sought-after collection of amusing ape profile images issued as Ethereum NFTs. Eminem, Madonna, and billionaire investor Mark Cuban are among the celebrities who have purchased them. NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are digital deeds of ownership used by some to transform the art and music industries. Bored Apes owners have access to a private Discord channel where they can talk about the NFTs. BAYC's official Instagram account was hacked last month, and criminals took $2.8 million from customers' wallets by spreading a link to a fake website that stole NFTs.
The Bored Ape Yacht Club is the most well-known profile photo NFT collection, with CryptoPunks vying for first place.
