In a tweet posted Friday, Hoskinson tweeted that users might need to locate seven of their friends on Discord to reboot it, implying that the mobile phone may experience performance troubles like that of the Solana network.
Over the last year and a half, Solana has suffered multiple outages. On May 1, Solana locked up for several hours before it was brought back online following a restart of its validator network. Similarly, the blockchain network experienced its most recent and fifth outage of the year in June, which made the network cease producing blocks for about four and a half hours. Once considered a rising star of the cryptovers, thanks to high speed transaction and scalability, the latest string of outages, however, has cast serious doubts regarding its reliability.
On Thursday, Solana announced the launch of an upcoming Android smartphone called Saga, which will allow developers to create mobile experiences for wallets and apps called Solana Mobile Stack. The device is particularly for those equipped with crypto wallets, Web3, and NFTs along with support for decentralized apps that rely on the Solana blockchain.
