During his address, Hoskinson outlined potential collaboration opportunities with Ripple, likening his proposed approach to Cardano's existing relationship with the Bitcoin community. Among his plans, Hoskinson proposed integrating Cardano's privacy-focused sidechain, Midnight, into Ripple’s ecosystem. The Midnight sidechain, launched on a testnet last month, combines privacy with regulatory compliance, which could offer Ripple enhanced privacy solutions.
Additionally, Hoskinson revealed that Cardano could potentially support Ripple's stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD), which is currently in beta testing on Ethereum and the XRP Ledger. As of last month, RLUSD held a total supply of $47.4 million, with plans for mainnet launch following Ripple's preparations, including securing exchange partners and advisory support.
Hoskinson’s apology is a significant step toward mending relations with the XRP community after a lengthy public dispute. The tension stemmed from accusations by XRP supporters, who allege that Ethereum’s founders, including Hoskinson, had a role in instigating the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple. Hoskinson, who denies these claims, faced backlash, with some XRP enthusiasts even calling for his imprisonment.
In recent comments, however, Hoskinson chose to set aside past grievances, opting instead to focus on creating synergies between Cardano and Ripple. With both ecosystems aiming to expand their influence, this collaboration could represent a powerful partnership in the evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
