Trend I'm noticing: most execs/CEOs don't want to speak with mainstream media as much as they did even a few years ago. Our customers are on YouTube/podcasts/social media - not reading mainstream media. And companies are able to control their own distribution channels.
Even though Coinbase CEO has talked about avoiding mainstream journalists, he still praises high-quality journalism. He has said that journalists play a very important role in society. According to him, the best thing is to connect with just 3-5 respected journalists and most of the time should be spent on modern channels. He believes that when people watch anything on the national TV, it might attract a huge number of audience towards the company or any particular entrepreneur. He has also specified that he is not completely giving up on journalism and specialist reporters.
As the Coinbase CEO has mentioned about directly connecting with the audience through blogs, he has received a lot of responses from people across the crypto platform. One of the prominent one to respond was Binance.US’s CEO, Catherine Coley who believes that mainstream media and journalists are extremely important. She has accepted that it is important to connect with the users directly but journalists on the other hand play an important role in order to promote and advance the industry.
Jesse Powell, co-founder of Kraken has said that publishing content through blogs or podcasts can also lead towards misstatement as well. Journalists are always looking forward to some sensational news in order to attract more audiences. There are mixed reactions to the assertion made by Coinbase CEO.
