A single resource-intensive “mega-transaction” could completely exhaust a block’s computational resource leaving nothing for the subsequent transactions, and greatly increasing the overall latency. “This was such a problematic bottleneck for ZK systems,” said Michael Dong, co-founder of Brevis ZK co-processor, commenting on the ZK systems’ inability to predict the order of processing of this block on the <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/ethereum-reached-3200-as-shark-accumulation-increases/">Ethereum</a> network. The end result was the unavailability of real-time proving.
<h2>Restoring Certainty to the ZK Era</h2>
EIP-7825 tackles this bottleneck by setting a maximum of 30 million gas on each transaction. This way, no one transaction can dominate the resources necessary for a block to be verified. This bounding of computational resources brings critical predictability, which alters the user experience for the ZK-rollup products.
