The news of Jack Dorsey aiming to build a new decentralized network based on Bitcoin has been met with enthusiasm by the cryptocurrency community (BTC).
According to an announcement yesterday, Dorsey’s Block subsidiary, TBD will build a decentralized web dubbed “Web5,” based on the flagship cryptocurrency as opposed to Web3, which many Bitcoiners including Dorsey himself believe to be centralized and controlled by venture capitalists.
A Dogecoin enthusiast reacted to the news of Dorsey’s ambitions plans to build a Bitcoin-based Web5, saying:
“If Jack and Bitcoin can create web5 then Dogecoin can create web69.”
The tweet prompted a response from Dorsey, Twitter’s former CEO and co-founder, who called on Tesla founder Elon Musk to comment on the message.
Musk, who has always been a proponent of Dogecoin responded with a fire emoji on the possibility of creating Web69 centered around the meme-based cryptocurrency DOGE.
Crypto community has a keenness for the internet's funny number 69, shorthand for a sex act and the cannabis community’s favorite number, 420.
In fact, Musk has earlier used the meme numbers to comment on the rising inflation and also on the exceptional performance of Bitcoin during the bull run of October 2021.
