Eminem has joined the BAYC bandwagon by purchasing a Bored ape for 123.45 ETH or $452,000 at the time of settlement. Since then, the 15-times Grammy award winner quickly made the ape his profile picture on Twitter.
Dubbed "EminApe," the graphic shows a Bored Ape figure dressed in a khaki army cap and a gold chain necklace, both often worn by Eminem in real life. The digital artwork was sold by BAYC member GeeGazza, who had tweeted back in November 2021:
“I still think Eminem is destined to buy my @BoredApeYC one day.” He later admitted after selling the ape, “You don’t understand how long I’ve been manifesting that Eminem buys my ape.”
Georgio Constantinou, artist manager of Web3 digital agency Six tweeted confirmed on helping Eminem buy “the EminApe.” With the latest purchase, the artist has joined amongst many other celebrities who have aped in so far, including NBA star Stephen Curry and talk show host Jimmy Fallon.
This is not the first NFT purchase for Eminem. He already owns about 20 NFTS on OpenSea under the name Shady Holdings which includes a number of Lil Baby Doodles X NFTs, Crypto Junk, and an Official Construction Punk.
The Slim Shady in April launched a beat-inspired animated NFTs for Stans that took place on the NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway. Later in August, he and Paul Rosenberg joined a slew of venture funds that injected $30 million into the NFT market Makersplace.
