Haun Ventures will invest via two funds, a $500 million early-stage fund, and a $1 billion acceleration fund. The two funds represent the largest debut on record for investment vehicles led by a female General Partner, according to PitchBook.
“We’re energized by the opportunity to invest in every layer of the web3 tech stack, and will back projects in their early stages as well as when they are ready to accelerate growth,” wrote Haun in a blog post announcing the raise.
The Haun Ventures team consists of Chris Lehane, a former Airbnb executive and Clinton administration official, Tomicah Tillemann, a former staffer for President Joe Biden, and Rachael Horwitz, who led communications teams at Twitter, Google, Facebook, and Coinbase.
Katie Haun, a former federal prosecutor for 10 years became Andreessen’s first female general partner in 2018 where she co-led its multiple cryptocurrency funds alongside Chris Dixon.
In December 2021, Haun announced her departure from Andreessen Horowitz to focus on her own crypto and Web3 focused fund.
