Facebook’s Foray to ‘Meta’ Will be Complete With New Stock Ticker

Meta Stock Ticker
Meta confirmed on Tuesday that it will change its Nasdaq stock ticker to 'META' beginning June 9. The company's current ticker symbol, FB, has been used since its initial public offering in 2012. The new ticker symbol mirrors the company's rebranding from Facebook to Meta focusing on building the metaverse.

Meta's Stock Ticker Will No Longer Be 'FB'

According to a recent filing via the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Facebook-parent company will change its stock ticker symbol to META prior to the market open on June 9. The company later said in an official press release,

"The new ticker symbol aligns with the company's rebranding from Facebook to Meta, announced on October 28, 2021. No action by the company's shareholders is required with respect to the ticker symbol change. The company's Class A common stock will continue to be listed on NASDAQ and its CUSIP number will remain unchanged."

Facebook's rebrand to Meta, is part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg's efforts to move away from the company being known as just a social media company into plans for building the metaverse. At the time, Meta said it would change its stock ticker to MVRS, effective December 1. However, in late November, the company said it was delaying the change to the first quarter of 2022.
