Jack Dorsey’s ‘First Tweet’ NFT Goes on Sale for $48M, Fetches Top Bid of Just $280

Jack Dorsey NFT
Sina Estavi, a crypto entrepreneur who brought Jack Dorsey's first tweet in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT) a year ago recently sought to sell it for $48 million, which is more than 16 times the $2.9 million he paid for it. However, the NFT brought in a top bid of only $280 within its three-day auction time.

Dorsey's First Tweet NFT Goes for a Flop

Earlier last week, crypto entrepreneur Sina Estavi put Jack Dorsey’s ‘First Tweet’ NFT up for auction with a listing price of $48 million. Additionally, he also promised that half of the proceeds from the NFT sale will be handed out to GiveDirectly, an East African-based non-profit organization that helps families living in extreme poverty.

The auction was closed on April 13 with just seven total offers ranging from the highest bid of only 0.09 ETH ($277 at current prices) to the lowest at 0.0019 ETH (almost $6).

However, after the auction was closed off, the NFT got the highest offer upto 2 ETH, worth $6,222 at the time of writing, which is still way less than Estavi’s listed price.

Estavi, who is the chief executive of blockchain company Bridge Oracle, later told a crypto publication that he might sell the NFT of Jack Dorsey's tweet if he gets a good offer.

The tweet, which says "just setting up my twttr," was first posted in March 2006 and was auctioned off last year by its then Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey for charity. Mr. Estavi bought the NFT tweet within the same month it was auctioned.
