The Video Games Chronicle (VGC) translated an interview of Sega Japan's Executive VP Shuji Utsumi,
"We have defined 'Super Game' as the development of AAA titles that cross over Sega's comprehensive range of technologies, and we will aim to achieve this in our five-year plan."
Utsumi added four criteria to the project, stating it is multi-platform, multi-language, released worldwide, and is a triple-A title like Call of Duty or FIFA. Utsumi refers to the gaming experience which will become a "global blockbuster."
Sega producer Masayoshi Kikuchi in an interview had hinted at 'Super Game' project plans of a metaverse initiative where a variety of games is connected.
"It is a natural extension for the future of gaming that it will expand to involve new areas such as cloud gaming and NFTs."
Sega's plans of shifting toward the gaming metaverse are one of the latest trends in the growing line of game developers embracing digitalizing. Game developers have begun to embed Web3 technologies such as NFT in the Japanese video game Sega (nonfungible token) and the Metaverse.
