On April 26, Ledger officially announced that the Cardano app version has been upgraded to v.4.0.0 which introduces smart contract functionality into the app.
Commenting on the announcement, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson praised the crypto hardware wallet company for its ‘great work.’
Cardano’s network update, Alonzo, introduced smart contract functionality back in September 2021. The smart contract compatibility, however, was lacking on the Cardano app for more than six months.
But now, users can access the much-anticipated Cardano feature following the company updating the ADA app to integrate the latest functionality.
Before users can update their Ledger Cadano app to the latest version, users are required to update their Ledger wallet firmware and install the Ledger Live App on their device. Following the app update, users can then access the Cardano’s DeFi ecosystem through YoROI and AdaLite . In addition to that, they can also sign smart contracts with the upgrade directly from the Cardano app.
Cardano and its smart contract platform, Plutus, are set to undergo a significant increase in the June hard fork. Founder Charles Hoskinson recently stated that the upcoming Vassil hard fork upgrade in June will provide “massive performance improvements for Cardano” and its smart contract capabilities.
