In a post today, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a slew of monetization updates for Facebook and Instagram ‘that will help creators build for the metaverse.’
First off, the company is testing a new Creator Marketplace on Instagram, where creators will be able to get discovered by brands for potential partnership opportunities.
The company is also expanding its Reels Play Bonus program to more creators on Facebook, which will also soon enable creators to cross-post their Instagram Reels to Facebook and monetize them within both apps. Additionally, it is also launching interoperable subscriptions to let creators give their paying subscribers on other platforms access to subscriber-only Facebook Groups.
“We’re heading towards a future where more people can do creative work they enjoy, and I want platforms like ours to play a role in making that happen,” Zuckerberg wrote in his Facebook post.
After launching an initial test of NFT display options on Instagram back in May, Meta is now expanding the test pool for the option, while it’s planning to bring NFT display to Facebook as well. The platform’s NFT rollout is also being expanded beyond the US, starting with a select group of US-based users.
The supported blockchains for showcasing NFTs on Meta include Ethereum and Polygon, with support for Flow and Solana in the coming future.
