Meta's VR allows users to access well-known Microsoft productivity programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint. Future features, according to Nadella, will let users stream a Windows Cloud PC to their Meta headsets. With a tonne of new capabilities, Meta is hoping that its Quest Pro headset will entice people into a virtual workweek. The manufacturer asserts that compared to its previous headset, the new model is more comfortable, performs better, and enhances clarity with higher resolution.
Additionally, the Quest Pro will provide "more intuitive" feedback for its hand controllers and "real-time emotion tracking," allowing the user's virtual avatar to imitate real-life counterparts' facial expressions like grins and winks. Nadella said,
"We're bringing the Microsoft Teams' immersive meeting experience to Meta Quest to give people new ways to connect. Now, you can connect, share and collaborate as though you are together in person."
Microsoft Teams will be cross-compatible with Horizon Workrooms, Meta's virtual reality meeting space. According to Mark Zuckerberg, this cross-device experience will serve as "the core of the virtual workplace of the future." The company's research and development division, Reality Labs, will spend $5.7 billion in 2022 to advance the necessary technology and virtual worlds. In a July Q2 earnings call, Zuckerberg insisted on the "huge opportunity" despite the losses.
