According to a video posted by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s NFT platform will be powered by Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution, Polygon, and available to select creators.
Zuckerberg said the social media giant will start with Instagram and then move to Facebook, with potentially some of Meta’s other products included down the line.
He also mentioned creating augmented reality NFTs for Instagram stories via Spark AR, a Meta-owned augmented reality effects software.
Meta will initially only give access to NFTs to a small number of creators and NFT projects, with the most notable name being Gary Vaynerchuck, who launched his Vee Friends NFTs in 2021.
