World, the biometric identity verification project co-founded by Sam Altman, has unveiled a major upgrade to their mobile application dubbed by developers as a "super app." This latest version provides encrypted messaging capabilities as well as expanded <a href="https://share.google/fLxEXdMnZbAuXHBZW" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cryptocurrency payment</a> features aimed at providing one centralized platform for identity, communication, and finance.

World recently unveiled an upgrade at their San Francisco headquarters. Sam Altman and co-founder/CEO Alex Blania highlighted that World's main mission remains "verifying human identity in an age of AI manipulation", something their new features help achieve through their unique designs.

World Chat, an encrypted messenger using end-to-end encryption to provide conversation privacy, offers similar levels of protection as Signal. Uniquely, its chat interface revolves around World ID for seamless identity management.

For users to distinguish real users from potential bots, the app utilizes color-coded speech bubbles: blue are reserved for users with verified World IDs; gray signify those yet to undergo biometric verification. This design encourages human verification while giving more control and trust over online interactions.
<h2>New Crypto Payment Rails and Virtual Accounts</h2>
The upgraded app greatly expands its utility as a digital wallet and financial tool, with new Venmo-like functions for sending, depositing, withdrawing cryptocurrency directly within the app. Crucially, payment features such as USDC, EURC, wrapped Bitcoin Ethereum tokens don't require users to have a verified World ID--reducing barriers of entry for newcomers.

Additionally, this version introduces virtual bank accounts that enable users to receive their salaries directly into the World App and make deposits from traditional bank accounts - funds can then be easily converted into cryptocurrency for seamless digital finance and transactions on crypto rails.
