In a Twitter thread written on March 6th, 2022, Anton Nell senior solutions architect at the Fantom Foundation announced that colleague Andre Cronje and he has quit the crypto industry.
The announcement resulted in numerous DeFi tokens losing a significant percentage of the value. Although some have slightly recovered, they’re all still in the red.
Questions surrounding Cronje’s future in crypto started surfacing this week after he deleted his Twitter account and updated his LinkedIn profile to indicate that he had stopped working on Yearn.Finance, Fantom, and the wider Ethereum ecosystem. He later confirmed to the Keep3r Network community that he would be leaving the project in a Telegram message.
Reacting to the departure, the pseudonymous lead developer of Shiba Inu, Shytoshi Kusama stated that he is not leaving and would continue to contribute to the Shiba Inu ecosystem.
“I’m not leaving. I’m building. I see a future where most see the end. (Which I get.) I’m no billionaire (and never will be), I’m just a normal guy doing my best,” Shytoshi Kusama tweeted.
The developer further went on to add that the recent departure of Cronje and Neil goes on to show the dangers crypto developers like him have to face for their contributions in their fight against decentralization.
“Regardless, despite anger, bs and extortion, I will not give up until we carve out a new world despite the BS we face,” he added.
