Tebow founded CAMPUS, a Solana-backed software startup that intends to act as a marketplace for college athletics. Tebow formerly played for the New York Jets in addition to playing baseball in the lower levels for the New York Mets for numerous years. For promotion, the site has partnered with Nissan Heisman House. Eight winners will get memorabilia and the chance to virtually meet Tebow and the other seven Heisman Trophy winners.
Tebow clarified that the platform is intended for all athletes, not just football players, including other sportspeople like gymnastics.
College athletes have the means to monetize their name, reputation, and appearance due to CAMPUS. The NCAA lost a legal battle over the matter in front of the U.S. Supreme Court last year, which opened the door for college players to negotiate endorsement deals based on their names, likenesses, and images. Since then, athletes have started looking at NFT-based transactions and even ways to get paid in cryptocurrency.
