Ukrainian Government Now Accepting Dogecoin Donations

The Ukrainian government is now accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) donations alongside other forms of cryptocurrency. Until now, the nation received contributions in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Polkadot (DOT), and Tether (USDT).

Ukraine Expands Crypto Donations

Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s vice prime minister and minister of digital transformation announced yesterday that the government is now accepting donations in the meme-based cryptocurrency Dogecoin. He even gave a shout-out to the DOGE co-creator Billy Markus and Tesla CEO Elon Musk asking for a contribution.

At the time of writing, the Dogecoin address posted by Fedorov has received more than DOGE, worth over $65,000.

A day earlier, Federov tweeted about a project called Aid For Ukraine, a collaboration between the Ukrainian government and Everstake a Solana-based crypto project to raise funds in Solana cryptocurrency.

Meanwhile, decentralized crypto exchange Uniswap has now built a function that allows people to convert any Ethereum-based digital currencies into the ether (ETH) and send it to the Ukrainian government.

Ukraine Confirms Airdrop

As of now, the government of Ukraine has raised $38.8 million, through 66,734 cryptocurrency donations since the beginning of the Russian invasion, according to Elliptic, a blockchain analytics company.

On Wednesday, Ukraine's official Twitter account confirmed an 'airdrop', scheduled to take place today. However, details of it remain unclear as to what digital currency would be given away and to whom.
