In exchange for reducing the staking minimum, Buterin recommended a temporary increase in bandwidth requirements. He explained that this adjustment could ensure the network’s scalability while improving staking accessibility. Buterin envisions a future where the minimum staking requirement could drop to just 1 ETH, once bandwidth and peer-to-peer issues are fully resolved. This potential change could greatly enhance Ethereum’s decentralization.
Buterin’s roadmap aligns with the broader goal of decentralizing the Ethereum network and improving its scalability. Independent Ethereum educator Anthony Sassano also emphasized the importance of solo staking and running full nodes at home to maintain Ethereum's true decentralization.
Additionally, Buterin introduced the concept of "Ethereum Alignment" last week, aiming to strengthen the open-source ecosystem and foster economic unity within Ethereum.
However, Ethereum and other altcoins are currently facing selling pressure. Buterin’s sale of ETH, along with large sales from a whale, has led to an 8% drop in ETH’s price since the initial coin offering (ICO) period. Despite the price dip, the Ethereum community believes that these changes could positively impact network security and promote wider adoption.
