Moderators of the popular Reddit forum, WallStreetBets, recently announced the launch of the “r/wallstreetbetscrypto” forum, citing a positive response to the ideas floated in April.
This is a significant development for the forum, which rose to prominence as a result of meme stock rallies this year. At present, WallStreetBets has a total of 11 million followers, while the newly created crypto forum has 12,000 followers.
According to the moderators, crypto was kept out of WallStreetBets because it wasn’t representative of the community. However, with many people involved in crypto trading, “times have changed and crypto does seem to belong here,” they indicated.
Notably, WallStreetBetsCrypto will be part of the same community and have the same format as the original forum. It will also be run by the same people who are working with WallStreetBets.
Following the launch of WallStreetBetsCrypto, many users of the original forum have expressed their opinions. Some users have been critical of the development, while others such as Orzon have hailed it as an interesting effort.
