"Woke Mind Virus Is Making Netflix Unwatchable": Elon Musk

Elon Musk
Elon Musk, the world's richest man, has explained why he doesn't watch Netflix series.

On April 20, the 50-year-old tycoon tweeted,

"The woke mind virus is making Netflix unwatchable."

Elon Musk's rebuke of Netflix came as the streaming giant revealed that inflation, the Ukraine conflict, and tough competition contributed to a drop in subscribers for the first time in more than a decade.

In less than two hours, the SpaceX founder's response received over 16k retweets and 88k likes on Twitter.

Musk's statements were also met with affirmative responses from Twitter users.

"Woke mind virus is the biggest threat to the civilization," wrote Pranay Pathole, Musk's friend from Pune, India.

Netflix announced that it lost 200,000 customers in the first quarter, far short of its target of 2.5 million new subscribers. After the invasion of Ukraine, the suspension of service in Russia had a toll, with 700,000 members losing their jobs.

After the bell on Tuesday, Wall Street pushed Netflix's stock down 26%, wiping out almost $40 billion in market value. The company has lost nearly half of its value since announcing dismal subscriber growth in January.

Elon Musk made an offer to acquire Twitter for $43 billion last week, according to a regulatory filing on April 14. He has made an offer to purchase Twitter for $54.20 per share in cash. On Thursday, he made the offer public in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Elon Musk has made a "best and last" offer to purchase Twitter Inc., claiming that the company has enormous potential that he will unlock.
