Brittany Paz, an attorney representing Free Speech Systems, gave a deposition in a civil defamation trial in Connecticut against Jones. The parents of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre victims started the prosecution in 2012. Alex Jones and his media outlet called the incident a "hoax" set up by the U.S. government.
Reports state that according to Paz, the crypto donations requested during the broadcast go "straight to Alex Jones personally." Additionally, Jones does not tell anybody where the donated funds go or what he does with them.
The lawyer claims that Jones' show, also broadcast online, has increased in views since 2012. Jones was forced to pay the parents of the murdered child $49.3 million in punitive and compensatory damages for his false hoax claim in a case similar to the one in Texas last month.
To shield itself and its owner from financial damages, Free Speech Systems filed for bankruptcy protection during the first week of the first trial. According to information gathered by the British broadcaster BBC, an economist hired by the Texas parents who sued Jones stated that the firm's owner, media brand, and parent company are worth up to $270 million. On the Infowars website, the conspiracy theorist's supporters urge to "sponsor" the media company "with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies."
