It all started when an entrepreneur created a group on telegram citing his issues and stated he received a bad batch of Antminer S17 snd that the equipment is breaking down after a month use. However, within a month complains of similar nature were raised and the group had 160 members.
Samson Mow of Blockstream also raised similar complaints and stated that almost 20 to 30% of the buyers are experiencing failure rate. A spokesperson from Bitmain has revealed that the company is aware of the issues raised by the customers and they have already gotten in touch with them and are addressing their concerns. He added that Bitmain's wants to provide the best customer experience and so they would come up with solutions soon. Also, customers facing issues can contact their customer service at any time.
With the bitcoin halving around the door, Bitmain has already shipped products of the first round domestically. The new products would help in increasing profitability post halving. The owner of Antminer S17 would be hoping that their issues get resolved soon and they don't miss out on the much-awaited event and the profits that usually come with it.
Given the COVID-19 crisis, the mining equipment cost went down by quite much, Bitmain decided to pay back its customers who got the product at a higher price some coupons to satisfy their demand. They would be hoping Bitmain can live up to its claims and deliver them a timely solution.
