Apple and Google to Integrate Contact Tracing Technology

Apple and Google
With this huge spread of coronavirus, a lot of companies are coming up with different measures and tools to track the cases. Apple and Google are also planning to integrate a contact tracing technology into their specific operating systems. This technology will be based on Bluetooth to trace the coronavirus cases and this has been jointly announced by both the firms on April 10.

Both the firms have also announced that they will also provide interaction with various health authorities of the government.

Apple and Google claims that technology will protect users privacy

The kind of app that both Apple and Google are planning to build up act as a kind of alarming app. These will let you know if you're around any person who is infected with the coronavirus. It has also been claimed by both the firms that they fully committed to protecting the user's privacy.

However, there are certain claims by a few people that this new technology of Apple and Google will expose the smartphones at the operating system layer. Jaap-Henk Hoepman has written an article and urged both the firms to stop this technology that they are building up.

Tracing apps might turn smartphones into a mass surveillance tool

The article was written by Hoepman also claims that this tracing will not be only limited to this pandemic period only. It will remain in the smartphones of the people who will use this app until and unless both Apple and Google remove it from their network. The firms have not given any type of guarantee that the information will be only used for coronavirus tracing or something else also.

The apps that will be built up by both these firms will be completely decentralised and hence there is no protective shield. It has also been specified by him that this kind of app is going to be far more dangerous than the disease itself.
