The patent was first filed in May 2019, by Block.one and got an approval on April 28, 2020, by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
The patent awarded to Block.one would create a system for bidders, where they could compete with each other so that their profile could possess a prime position on trending posts.
The patent filed by the Block.one stated that if the bidders would get positive feedback from the community then they could have a prime position on trending posts.
It further mentioned, “Although a user who creates content may receive personal acclaim and recognition through receiving positive feedback, those users who provide positive feedback oftentimes receive only limited exposure”.
According to the US Patent and Trademark Office approved filing, a system is a computer-implemented approach that would allow bidding on social media posts.
While the system would be incentivizing the positive feedback, it would also mint all the social media posts for the operator of the network and the content developers.
Initially, with the help of blockchain technology, the system would verify the legitimacy of the content posted on social media.
While incentivizing the positive feedback, the platform would provide tokens to the bidders. Later the fund generated by the platform during bidding would be delivered to the author of the post on the social media, the previous higher bidder and the administrator of the platform.
Block.one has decided to implement the patent on its social media network, Voice, because the company believes that there are many similarities between the bidding system and it.
In March 2020, Voice in total raised over $100 million as the publisher of EOS blockchain protocol invested in it, so that the social media network of Block.one could get the resources to operate independently.
