Armstrong started his tweet by saying that the petition itself was “really dumb on multiple levels,” and that any criticism should be directed at him and not his C-suite. He also doubted why anyone who supported the position would continue to work there.
The petition created on Mirror.xyz on Thursday called for the removal of three company executives Coinbase chief operating officer Emilie Choi, chief product officer Surojit Chatterjee and chief people officer LJ Brock.
The post which has now been taken down, but was captured by the Internet Archive called for the removal of the above-mentioned executives for “executing plans and ideas that have led to questionable results and negative values.” Among them includes the unsuccessful launch of the Coinbase NFT platform, revoking job offers to new employees, creation of a toxic workplace, mismanagement, and apathy.
“We hope to find people who have had experience in the crypto space and can run such a company more responsibly,” the petition concluded.
On Friday, CEO Brian Armstrong took to Twitter with a series of 16 tweets, encouraging the dissatisfied employees to “quit and find a company to work at that you believe in,” in his Twitter thread.
"If you have no confidence in the execs of CEO of a company then why are you working at that company," asked Armstrong.
Further down the tweet thread, Armstrong said that ranting like this is really unethical and dumb.
"If you get caught you will be fired," he added.
