According to reports from multiple media outlets, WhaleFin, a platform for trading and lending cryptocurrencies, has agreed to sponsor the London club from next season. WhaleFin is a digital asset platform owned by Amber Group, a company based in Singapore.
As the first cryptocurrency partner for Chelsea, the logo of WhaleFin will be on both men’s and women’s kits from the start of the '22-23
This would be the club's first official move into the crypto market, weeks after Liverpool was linked with picking another such firm to replace their main shirt sponsor, Standard Chartered, and after Manchester United made a deal with blockchain group Tezos.
Additionally, several other clubs in the EPL are involved in crypto in one way or another, including some of the top clubs in the league like Arsenal and Manchester both of which have fan tokens with at least 17 of the 20 teams in the league having some partnerships with crypto companies.
Meanwhile, there are rumors that Liverpool is in discussions with over a £70 million a year main shirt sponsorship deal, with one of the interested parties being a crypto company.
