The Chicago Blackhawks is the latest sports team to enter into the wild world of NFTs and digital collection by launching their very own NFT collection comprising 12 hockey character cards and 2,000 digital tickets.
Inspired by the 8-bit hockey games of the 80s like 'Blades of Steel', the digital collectibles have been unveiled on BlackhawksNFT.com and are available for direct purchase through the Sweet platform.
Five editions of each character card are available via auction. The winner of the first editions of the two Captain cards (Grant ‘Champ’ Parker and Madison ‘Maddy’ Houser) will receive a custom Blackhawks jersey and two tickets to a Blackhawks game during 2021-22.
In addition, four different ticket editions (500 of each design) are on sale for $30 each on a first-come, first-serve basis. Fans who buy all four editions will unlock a bonus "Golden Ticket." All sales and/or bids will close on Tuesday, August 31 at 10 p.m. CT, if the individual series isn’t sold out by then.
The Blackhawks partnered with Sweet to launch and manage the team's first digital collectibles. Sweet is a highly scalable, consumer-friendly, and environmentally conscious NFT platform used by over 600 top consumer and entertainment brands worldwide. An eco-friendly platform, Sweet is one of the first sites to feature Flexible NFT Distribution, facilitating people’s interaction with NFTs globally.
The NFT market is rapidly evolving especially among athletes to promote their own names and unlock new opportunities and ideas for interacting with fans. For sports fans, this is a chance to get their hands on digital collectibles and unique physical items from their favorite sports team, and even meet their most admired sports star.
