Previously, Julian La Picque was CFO at blockchain platform Covantis. He co-founded the blockchain consulting firm Uncrypted in Geneva, where he provided traditional businesses with advice on how the technology may optimize their business processes.
Chiliz will benefit substantially from La Picque's experience as it builds gamified, Web3-compatible rewards communities on Socios.com for the world's largest sporting properties and prepares to launch the mainnet of CC2.
By launching CC2, Chiliz's native currency, $CHZ, which is Socios.com's digital currency, will also gain greater utility. With CC2, $CHZ will become the backbone of an open, multi-vertical ecosystem where prominent entertainment and sports brands can build DeFi products and Play2Earn games, mint Fan Tokens and NFTs, and create loyalty, merchandising, and event programs using $CHZ.
La Picque's entry comes after several significant recent business announcements, prominent among them a $100M Socios.com investment into FC Barcelona's digital arm Barça Digital Entertainment, tasked with implementing the team's Web3 strategy. One of the initial partners to learn about CC2 is Barça Digital Entertainment. The soft launch of Socios.com's US-specific app, which will provide US sports teams and fans access to the platform's incentives and engagement community, is also quickly approaching.
