The service will primarily only be available to a limited number of American PayPal customers, given the U.S. is one of MetaMask's main user markets, according to the statement made on December 14.
The partnership aims to make it simple for customers to buy and transfer ETH from PayPal to MetaMask by simply entering into their mobile MetaMask application, after which it will lead them to their PayPal account to process transactions.
MetaMask's product manager, Lorenzo Santos, shared that the smooth purchase of cryptocurrency using MetaMask and the simple exploration of the Web3 ecosystem are both made possible for their American consumers due to the PayPal integration.
The debut comes after PayPal attempts to make it possible to send and receive cryptocurrency between its platform and a number of well-known cryptocurrency exchanges in June. In October 2020, the fintech startup launched its cryptocurrency buy, sell, and hold service. Recently, Paypal extended its cryptocurrency business to Luxembourg. This legislative framework should offer licenses to companies formed in any member state, enabling them to passport their services throughout the whole EU.
