Justin Sun said that DLive would provide an excellent solution for live media creators. He further added that live streaming content enjoyed an upper hand on centralized social media platforms, which take advantage of users by claiming ownership of their content. Thus, they exploit their hard work. He said that the world could now look forward to DLive delivering real value with the addition of a global community of passionate creators, which TRON and BitTorrent bring. The announcement also said that both BitTorrent and DLive would work together to bring blockchain-based peer-to-peer content sharing, including live streaming to everyone.
The founder and CEO of Dapp.com, Kyle Lu, said that the deal was a great one. He backed this assertion by stating that top YouTubers like PewDiepie were already on DLive. He further noted that other YouTubers would also join the platform because YouTube had recently removed many crypto-related videos from its platform.
Founded last year in 2018, DLive has over 5 million active users, while BitTorrent has over 100 million active users. However, DLive has multiplied by several notches over the last 15 months. It boasts of a niche market, passionate community, and enthusiastic adoption. In September 2018, it migrated to Lino blockchain test net. By April 2019, PewDie had begun his first exclusive live stream on the platform. However, it wasn’t until the summer of 2019 that DLive gained real recognition by the coming together of Jack Black, James Charles, Ninja, and PewDiePie, which became the year’s biggest live streaming events.
