MMA fighter Elias Theodorou will be the first-ever sanctioned 'cannabis athlete' to compete in the United States against Bellator veteran Bryan Baker (18-5) in a Pro Middleweight MMA Superfight. He is the first professional athlete to receive a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for medical cannabis in competition in the USA.
Prior to this, Elias made history with another TUE exemption in the province of British Columbia, Canada when he defeated Matt Dwyer at the Rise Fighting Championship 6.
Dedicated to 'Fighting the Stigma' of medical cannabis in sports, he is launching his NFT series as part of the upcoming fight in order to “commemorate and immortalize it, for my fans, for fans of cannabis, and for those that appreciate the space and want to be a part of it.”
“The NFT is going to be a commemoration in the capacity similar to how fighters walk out with their official fight tee, and with the purchase of this NFT, you will get an official signed fight tee, with my cannabis brand, as well as a digital one,” he said in an interview.
In September, Graph Blockchain Inc. announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary New World Inc. has signed Middleweight Mixed Martial Arts fighter Elias Theodorou to create non-fungible tokens (NFT) on the New World NFT platform.
New World is an AR-focused NFT firm that allows creators, musicians, and celebrities to have access to an NFT distribution canvas to create and sell digital art. Notable artists such as Diogo Snow have produced numerous pieces on the New World platform for celebrities including Drake, and Fetty Wap, an American rapper, singer, and songwriter.
