Ethereum Co-Founder Discusses A Delay In The Merger

He indicated at that presentation that the PoS transition is set to go live on Ethereum's testnet Ropsten on June 8 of this year. Preston Van Loon, an Ethereum network core engineer, also announced at the Permissionless conference that the "Merge" transfer will take place in August if everything goes according to plan.
At the Ethereum Summit, Vitalik Buterin declared,
"This will be a significant test, more significant than any of the difficulties that we have done before; taking an extensive existing test network with many applications with proof-of-work, moving into proof-of-stake."
According to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, expected delays are a possibility. The Merge is slated to take place in August of this year. He also made a point of mentioning the case of a delay. He said,
"But of course, there's always a risk of problems. There's also a risk of delays. And so September is possible, and October is likely as well."
An Ethereum researcher also passed a comment on the possibility of a delay. Justin Drake stated that the team is ensuring that the Merge follows the deadline because it is the most critical task.
What Happens After The Merge?
The Merge is the first of Ethereum's significant enhancements. This is in addition to their London makeover. Ethereum has planned The Surge, The Verge, The Purge, and lastly, The Splurge after The Merge. According to reports, the Surge is concerned with scaling and its enhancements. This is accomplished via sharding techniques. The Verge follows, which uses Verkle trees and the Merkle proof improvement to support statelessness.
