Bieber’s purchase came to light from the sale stemming from the NFT marketplace Opensea.
The BAYC that Bieber purchased was Bored Ape Yacht Club #3001. Bieber, whose Opensea name is JustinBieberNFTs, paid 500 ether for BAYC #3001, whose floor price was 104 ether. Thus, Bieber purchased the BAYC for a much higher price than it was worth in the market.
Justin Bieber has had a fascination for NFTs as he has acquired 619 NFTs from 49 collections. Bieber owns a small fraction of the Doge NFT too. Despite spending $1.29 million on BAYC #3001 and holding an array of other NFTs, the estimated worth of all his NFTs today stands at only $502, 680.
Incidentally, Justin Bieber is among a long list of celebrities who own the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT. Other celebrity BAYC owners include LaMelo Ball, Steve Aoki from Linkin Park, rapper Eminem, Paris Hilton, comedian Jimmy Fallon, and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.
The way NFTs have been gaining ground, it’s quite likely that well-known personalities would follow suit in the near future and own NFTs in the coming days.
