Microsoft’s ION Launches Beta Testing on Bitcoin Network

Microsoft, a tech giant has previously announced that it is working on a decentralised identity network, ION and will be launched soon. Here is a development in this as recently the beta testing on Bitcoin network has been started for Microsoft’s ION. This has been announced by the firm on June 10 through a blog post. Daniel Buchner, program manager, Microsoft identity team that the open-source layer 2 ION has been launched by the firm. The major purpose behind this is to provide a decentralised identifier to the users so that there will not be any need for the usernames.

Microsoft’s ION designs to operate independently 

Buchner has also said that Microsoft’s ION has been developed with the Decentralized Identity Foundation and will be operating independently. Along with this, he has also said that ION will not be relying on the special utility tokens or any other consensus mechanisms. The main aim behind developing this digital identity network is to empower all the individuals and firms to provide control over their identities. It will give an opportunity to all of them to work and achieve more. The final releasing date of the network has not been revealed yet by Microsoft but the firm has said that they will be continuously working on the better implementation of ION network.

The tech giant announced Azure Blockchain Service

Back in the previous month, it was reported that Microsoft has announced its new Azure Blockchain service. This announcement came along with the Azure Blockchain Development Kit which was specially developed for the blockchain network by Ethereum. It has been seen that over time, there has been a huge development for DID technology among various companies as well. ConsenSys has also been utilizing Ethr-DID which has been developed for its own DID. There are many other firms as well which have been seeing great potential in DID technology.
