OKCoin to Donate 1,000 BTC For Bitcoin Development Projects

OKcoin
The San Francisco, USA, subsidiary of OKCoin Exchange announced a 1,000 bitcoin (BTC) donation campaign called Let's Build Bitcoin Together! (Let's build Bitcoin Together!). The fund will be used to finance the development of Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV).

As of September 3, users and enthusiasts of crypto coins will be able to access the OKCoin platform and vote for the project they wish to receive the donations. For each vote received, OKCoin will send 0.02 BTC (or the equivalent in BCH or BSV) on behalf of the voter to the selected project.

At the end of the campaign, the total raised by each project will be divided and distributed among the developers and organizations related to each project. Up to 50,000 votes can be cast, and the donation will be effective October 11, according to the Let's Build Bitcoin Together! Campaign website. OKCoin's 1,000 BTCs will be delivered directly to each recipient.

Tim Byun, CEO, OKCoin, stated:

"There's no doubt that the last few years have been a roller coaster for the entire community, so we've decided to step forward and give back to the developers who keep moving forward. The 'Let's Build Bitcoin Together!' initiative, which we believe is the first community investment of this scale led by our Change House, is our way of showing our commitment and dedication to the Bitcoin community."

Some of the developers and specialists related to Bitcoin who would benefit are Luke Dashjr, who is a Bitcoin developer and maintains his client version called Knotts; Michael Ford, who is a Bitcoin Core developer; Jonas Schnelli and Jimmy Song, who creates programs to teach programs code about Bitcoin, among others.

As for Bitcoin Cash, the Bitcoin ABC team or the BCHD team would be the beneficiaries. The Bitcoin Unlimited team also participates. Finally, the Bitcoin Association, created by Jimmy Nguyen and CambrianSV, led by Ella Qiang, would be the recipients of the resources if OKCoin users decide to bet on BSV.

To certify that the voting is fair and cannot be manipulated with the use of bots, users who decide to participate in the vote of the exchange house must complete a series of steps.

Thus, they must have an account on the platform, deposit 100 USD or 100 EUR and also buy 100 USD in one of the cryptocurrencies available on the platform before voting. Deposits may be withdrawn at any time after voting.
