As per the announcement, this version has introduced three amendments to the current XRP ledger framework. This will include, Hardened Validation, fix 1781, and fix amendment Majority Calc. All three are now open for voting on the website. Ripple Network has specified that if the XRP Ledger Amendment process receives 80% of votes, then the ledger protocol will be subject to changes. It has also advised the users to upgrade to the new version before September 02, 2020.
Ripple Network and XRP Ledger have jointly launched an application recently named Ripay. The application is all set to extend the XRP adoption to over billions of people across the world. The Ripay app has secured the second position in a recent PayID Hackathon, which has featured over 360 developers.
The primary purpose of this app is to power and facilitate cross-border transactions for different parts of the world. Kuyawata, the Ripay programmer, has said that the app is capable of making transactions within seconds through texting only.
Ripay makes use of the universal payment modifier, also called PayID. This helps to create a compatible interface with different messaging apps like Telegram and many others. The Ripple Platform has also appointed Aditya Turakhia, ex-Executive Director at Goldman Sach as the Senior Manager for Global Institutional Markets of the firm. The firm took this step with the main goal of promoting the activities of the company. Turakhia has earlier worked at HSBC before working as Executive Director at Goldman Sach.
