Saudi Arabia Is Evaluating the Use of Blockchain in Government

Saudi government
According to a report citing a government official, Saudi Arabia is considering implementing the usage of cryptocurrencies and the adoption of blockchain throughout the kingdom. According to the report, the kingdom has also discussed Web3 technologies and how they can be used.

Despite this, the official, Prince Bandar Bin Abdullah Al Mishari, an assistant to the Minister of Interior for technology, is reported in an Unlock Media report saying that more work is needed before Saudi Arabia can successfully construct blockchain-based solutions.

Meanwhile, Al Mishari proposed that the kingdom not only hire blockchain professionals but also "engage with institutions to build [a] curriculum in blockchain and Web3."

While the Saudi government has yet to decide on cryptocurrencies, a recent poll found that more than half of the country's citizens feel they should be utilized for payment.
