CB Insights chose Sky Mavis based on several factors, including data submitted by the companies, company business models and momentum in the market, and Mosaic scores, CB Insights' proprietary algorithm that measures the overall health and growth potential of private companies from a pool of over 3,000 companies, including applicants and nominees.

Since 2016, the 2022 Blockchain 50 cohort has raised $17.1 billion in aggregate funding across over 200 deals and includes startups at different investment stages of development, from early-stage companies to well-funded unicorns.

Sky Mavis is the game developer behind Axie Infinity, a Pokemon-inspired play-to-earn metaverse game where players can collect, raise, breed, and battle digital pets called Axies that has already attracted more than 3 million active players on the platform.

The blockchain game’s native (AXS) token was down 1 percent in the past 24 hours and is currently trading at $ 47.29 per token. As of March 2022, AXS is available to trade on numerous exchange platforms, including Binance, Huobi Global, Coinbase, FTX, Bithumb, KuCoin, Gate.io, and Kraken.

In October 2021, Sky Mavis raised $152 million from a Series B funding round, which valued the company at approximately $3 billion.
