SpaceX Bans Zoom Due to Privacy Concerns

SpaceX
The whole world is afflicted under the coronavirus outbreak which has led to some serious lockdowns across the world. Due to this lockdown, most of the people are trying to cooperate with their firm and employees from home only. During this work from home situation, initially, Zoom has emerged to be an ultimate solution to most of the people for video conferencing. But it was not able to continue longer as people have reported several privacy concerns related to it. Due to this, SpaceX has banned the use of Zoom within its organisation and the employees won’t be using the app anymore.

SpaceX afraid of its internal content to be leaked out

There were several reports which claimed that the users' privacy is not secure with Zoom. Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX was very much concerned about the privacy of its company and its employees. Due to this, he has banned the usage of Zoom by any of the employees of SpaceX. This step was taken by the company when the U.S. law enforcement has warned about this app.

The major concern of Musk was that the internal secrets of the company will be revealed if it continues using the app. There are several technologies of SpaceX that play an important role in the nation’s security so it’s privacy cannot be compromised.

Serious flaws in Zoom app detected in February itself

This flaw with Zoom did not occur all of sudden as few researchers have already detected them back in February. The cybersecurity firm has revealed that the hackers can easily spy on the calls over this app. This has been the major reason because of which U.S. authorities have warned people against this app.

Now, during the time of lockdown and this huge crisis it has emerged as a big problem in front of the entrepreneurs and their employees. There is a need for another decentralised alternative to provide service like Zoom without compromising on privacy.
